Mathematics of Developing and Proving Efficiency of Sterilization Process

Sterilization is the process of destroying all microorganisms and their pathogenic products. The different sterilization techniques include, dry heat sterilization, steam sterilization, radiation sterilization and more. During sterilization, different microorganisms in different environments possess different resistance to the destructive principles that causes the organism or spore to die (lethality). D-value is the term used to describe the amount of time required to kill or destroy a microorganism. The Z-value allows integration of the lethal effect of heat as the temperature changes during the heating and cooling phases of a sterilization cycle. What are the Import Requirements for FDA Regulated Products into the US at the Port of Entry

Importers of FDA regulated products to US must comply with the import requirements of the FDA and the Customs. All imported products must meet the exact standards as domestic goods. FDA is required to assure products are not adulterated or misbranded based on evidence. Here are a few examples of the productsthat are imported into the US: Drugs (human and animal), Medical devices, Biologics (including human cells and tissues), Cosmetics, Dietary supplements, Food and Tobacco.

The very first step before importing a product is reviewing the documents that proves the origin, content, certificates, storage, shipping conditions, destination, FDA approval documents, etc. The other step that needs to be followed are a) physical appearance: checking for the presence of filth, packaging defects, decomposition, mishandling or misbranding. B) Sampling: Collected, packed and shipped to FDA labs for testing and analysis. C) Analysis and conclusions: No violation or Specific violation.

A product could be detained if it appears to be non-compliant based on the above mentioned criteria such as improper documentation, dissatisfactory physical appearance, etc. Once the product gets detained, a detention notice will be sent to the importer and consignee sighting the reasons for detention. The manufacturer will be provided with the right to respond timeframe for response and contact information of FDA reviewer. Once the detention Hearing Process is been scheduled, importer can take possession and return. Importer can provide evidence to refute appearance or petition to recondition with FDA approval. The detention can be “overturned” or “stand (Refusal).”

PUBLIC SPEAKING TRAINING FOR HR PROFESSIONALS

What is Public Speaking Fear and what are its causes?
Public Speaking Fear can be paralyzing… Standing in front of a crowd… You probably know the feeling. You can work weeks, learn the materials, and prepare the presentation. You try to ignore the anxiety. And then it’s the moment… You go to the stand… Your throat is dry, you begin to stutter… Your brain feels empty.
What is happening to you? This frustrating phenomenon is called Public Speaking Fear.
You are not the only one to suffer from this fear, or phobia. In fact, According to recent studies, average number of the population was found to have a serious fear of public speaking. Almost everyone has some degree of fear regarding public speaking.
Whether it is in front of 10 people or a full auditorium, the fear of public speaking seems to affect nearly everyone at one point or another. Even the most professional public speakers can become nervous before an important speech.
This impacts of this anxiety vary from just ‘not being your best’ during the speech, to not being able to even begin the speech, and in some cases even suffering from horrors and general feeling of incompetence.
Symptoms of this fear might be:
Rapid heartbeats
Shaky hands
Shortness of breath
Blank mind
Feel of freezing
Sweaty hands
Dizziness
Although you might hear and read about various reasons and factor that cause and affect Public Speaking Fear, I will divide the causes of this “fear” into 2 categories: Historically-based and Experience-based.
Historically-based factors
Imagine human beings in past times, when we used to live in small tribes. Those times encoded in us all kinds of fears, that helped humans survive. A human tribe would include between 30-100 members, usually with a single (male) leader. This leader was vital for the survival of the tribe and used to be the authority. Now imagine that one simple member of the tribe would arrange a speech in front of the tribe. The leader of the tribe would see this as an attempt to gain authority over the tribe. A common penalty for that could be death.
Public speaking used to be extremely dangerous in the past.
This historical reason is considered according to researches as the main reason why we are so afraid of public speaking.
There is a branch of psychology called “Evolutional Psychology”, which discusses matters like this. The most important thing that you should remember is that a major cause for your fear is irrational. You can’t explain it with the terms of our world. Only imagining the world as it was 10,000 years ago carries the real answer.
Experience-based factors
Now, in addition to the psychological reasons that cause this fear of public speaking, there are of course also factors from you own life that create it.
The way we use language in our life is called “conversation”, because when we speak, we do it with someone else. Our neurological system is so used to having conversations, that we just don’t pay attention to all the internal processes that happen when we’re speaking. Because it’s done automatically, we can focus our whole attention on the conversation itself.
Now, every new and unknown activity that we try to do, will seem intimidating, just because we are not experienced enough. We don’t know how to use our voice. We don’t know how to look at the people, how to stand, how to move our hands. We are even not used to the specific language patterns that we need to use during speech – and there is a different way to use language during a speech.
Another aspect of experience-based causes is a fear, caused by our past experiences. An embarrassing or painful experience while speaking to a group in the past can also create a fear.
So, let’s summarize so far. Public Speaking fear is this negative feeling that causes us not to be at our best during public speaking. It might even prevent us from making the speech at first place. We’ve discussed 2 main reasons for this fear. The first is based on our past as human beings, and that is the reason why we are sometimes so terrified about public speaking. The second reason is based on our own experiences of the world, which also create fears and beliefs.
Rational and irrational fears
Before moving on to dealing with public speaking fear, we need to understand how to view our fear.
Rational fears are fears that we can explain rationally, and the fear is of something that could cause real harm (physically or emotionally).
In generalexamples of rational fears include:
Dangerous people (a person holding a knife, murderer etc.)
Dangerous situations (fire, earthquake, floods etc.)
Dangerous activities (Skiing, walking on a rope etc.)
Now, we can see that fear of some activities is considered rational, because it consists of real danger. Some fears are good to have. The fear itself is something positive, it helps us survive.
Irrational fears, on the other side, are fears that don’t help us survive, but on the contrary, prevent us of being our best.
For example, if we were bitten by a dog once, we might get the fear of dogs for our whole life. If someone frightened us during a dark night, we might get a fear of darkness.
As you can see, our mechanism of fear in not perfect, and we need to do some work to deal with our fears.
Rational fears should be kept and maybe even encouraged. Irrational fears, instead of preventing harm, in many cases can cause us harm. It’s normal to try and overcome irrational fears.
Is fear of Public Speaking rational or not?
Can public speaking harm you? As we said above, in past times, public speaking could definitely cause you harm. It used to be extremely rational to be afraid. Because this fear was rational for hundreds of thousands of years, it was delivered to us during what we call “Evolutional Psychology“.
Is Public Speaking fear today is still rational? Well, I could give you some hypothetical examples when public speaking could cause harm. If you speak in front of a hostile crowd, it might cause you emotional fear. If you’re a gangster and you try to speak in front of your gang members, you might even have physical harm.
However, in most cases, public speaking is completely harmless. There is no rational reason to be afraid of speaking in front of your class members; and what about presenting your new product in front of your clients?
Therefore, in today’s world, Public Speaking is completely irrational.
In short, How to overcome the fear?
In order to overcome the fear of public speaking, it’s vital to understand, remember, and believe, that the fear is irrational.
Let’s know 2 approaches to overcoming the fear:
Subconscious- working on the processes that happen in our brain that we are not aware of, our belief system, etc. Those methods are meant to reduce or even completely abolish the fear.
Techniques- Specific techniques and methods to help you with public speaking, even if you still have the fear.
To tell the truth, if you just use techniques, get more experience, and if you yourself can’t help you can go for training programs where you will get tips or you can listen to the records where experts speak. If you feel hesitation to go for training classes and sit and listen to the things, then you could take up the best online training programs, one of those you would find is here, track this link PublicSpeakingCourse and so – you will get better.
Imagine that your mind is a computer. A very complicated one, but yet a computer. It runs so many programs that we just can’t count. Some of them are in our awareness – they are conscious processes. The rest, most of the processes, are out of our awareness – they are subconscious processes.
Always remember this ANYTHING IS POSSIBLE.
Now, Go out Speak Up. Make your fear to feel fear.

Import requirements for FDA regulated products

As many Americans still increase their consumption of fruits and vegetables in their diet in an endeavor to extend their health, well being, and lifetime and reduce their risk to diabetes, heart condition and different chronic conditions they'll in truth be increasing their risk to many forms of cancer.

Over the last sixty years farmers and growers have modified the manner they manufacture food so as to fulfill the expectations of customers, supermarkets and Governments. In doing in order that they have created several changes to the manner they farm.

To protect Crops and increase yields. Abundant of the planet food production is lost to attack from pesterer and diseases, within the field, at harvest and in storage. Crop protection decreases spoilage, which lowers value and will increase handiness. Crop protection products have conjointly enabled food production to stay pace with the planet population.

Prevent rats, mice, flies and different insects from contaminating foods whereas they're being transported and hold on.

Safeguard human health, by stopping food crops being contaminated by fungi.

Customers expect enticing, top quality, nutritious, safe, within your means food, pest free, poisonous substance free with minimum waste and microbic contamination. If a major quantity of manufacture was to be lost to pesterer injury, the value per unit of marketable manufacture would rise considerably.

While pesticides have vital uses, studies show that some pesticides cause health issues at sure levels of exposure.

Improper chemical use has been found to cause numerous kinds of cancer, birth defects, miscarriages, sterility, and deaths. The EPA ranks chemical residues together of the leading health issues within the United States. A major quantity of manufacture in United States groceries is foreign. Of this manufacture a major portion comes from countries victimization massive amounts of pesticides and herbicides throughout the farming practices.

A study conducted by the National Academy of Scientists estimates that within the next seventy years, 1,000,000 further cases of cancer within the United States are caused by pesterer residues.

Pesticide toxicity threatens United States customers within the "circle of poison" result within which unregistered or illegal pesticides are exported to different countries like North American nation and sprayed on crops whose manufacture is then exported back to the United States. North American nation has augmented its reliance on chemical imports and is presently the second largest chemical businessperson in geographical area.

New Island chemical use has conjointly continued to extend with New Island continued to bank heavily on chemical use in its farming practices.

Additionally several European countries conjointly export illegal pesticides to several nations that export manufacture to the United States and notice their thanks to United States grocery stores and later into United States homes for consumption.

Homegrown fruits and vegetables might not be far better. A information for chemical regulation issued by customers Union in 2001 gave the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency a grade of D for reducing dietary risks related to chemical residues on foods big within the U.S., citing "slow progress, and far of the task incomplete."

Currently, United States Food and Drug Administration (FDA) chargeable for protective the general public health by reassuring the protection, efficacy, and security of our nation’s food supply; together with food foreign to the US.

FDA tests on foreign foods reveal that contamination by misbr pesticides account for under 5 p.c of imports (other freelance testing recommend contamination rates slightly higher); but, contamination rates are higher for foreign carrots, pineapples, rice, peas and pears (Allen, May 28, 1991).

Of vital note but, is that the FDA is short-handed and solely tests one or 2 p.c of imports whereas the remainder land up in United States grocery stores!

Here are some ways you'll use to scale back you and your potential exposure to nephrotoxic chemical contamination from food sources.

A recent study at the University of Washington found that youngsters United Nations agency Ate largely organical fruits and vegetables had solely simple fraction the quantity of chemical by-products in their excretion as compared to youngsters United Nations agency Ate conventionally grown foods. If price is a difficulty, as a minimum, think about shopping for organic sorts of simply the foods that are shown to be additional possible to possess high levels of chemical residues, like peaches, apples, pears, winter squash, inexperienced beans, grapes, strawberries, raspberries, spinach, and potatoes.

Avoid foreign manufacture from areas celebrated to possess high levels of chemical residue. As a minimum, think about particularly avoiding tomatoes, strawberries, and spinach from Mexico), peaches, pears, and grapes from Chile, fruits and vegetables particularly apples from New Island.

Always wash (and peel, wherever possible) fruits and vegetables. Soaking has to be done to loose dirt and dust, however studies have shown that running water is that the handiest suggests that of physically removing chemical residues yet as dirt and bacterium. Note: laundry with business manufacture washes were shown in one study to be solely slightly simpler than plain running water in removing residues and should not be well worth the more money.

Peel manufacture that's possible to possess high levels of chemical residue. The chemical dichlorodiphenyltrichloroethane, illegal within the U.S. in 1973, has been found within the skins of root vegetables big over twenty years later.

Eat a spread of fruits and vegetables. If your manufacture is not organically big, feeding a mixture of foods from a spread of sources will minimize your risk of ingesting an excessive amount of anyone chemical.

Throw out the outer leaves of Bowery vegetables. The outer leafs are the components of the crop which will get the very best concentration of the chemical spray.

Under provisions of the U.S. law contained in the U.S. Federal Food, Drug and cosmetic Act, importers of food product or any product that are employed by the living beings are intended for introduction into U.S. interstate commerce and are chargeable for guaranteeing that the product are safe, sanitary, and labeled  per U.S. needs.

Imported food products are subjected to be inspected by FDA once offered for import at U.S. ports of entry. FDA might detain shipments of product offered for import if the shipments are found to not be in compliance with U.S. needs. The foreign and domestically created product ought to meet similar legal needs within the U.S.

FDA isn't licensed beneath the law to improve, certify, license, or otherwise sanction people food importers, products, labels, or shipments. Importers will import foods into the us while not previous sanction by FDA, as long because the facilities that manufacture, store, or otherwise handle the product that are registered with FDA, and previous notice of incoming shipments is provided to FDA.

EHS AUDITING AND INSPECTION

EHS Audits:-
Environmental, Health and Safety (EHS) audit is a standard, objective tool to determine the regulatory compliance in the workplace. An audit usually involves a survey of the workplace to:
· Spot what regulation apply to the facility
· Determine whether workers are adhering to environmental and workplace safety requirements or other corporate policies and procedures regarding compliance.
· Determine methods used and systems policies currently in place to ensure compliance.
Audits would be voluntary or required. In voluntary audit, usually EHS managers alone conduct an audit and decisions will be taken on their own which would be advantageous for the process. They can either evaluate compliance status, or identify any suspected problems.
A mandatory audit will be the part of settlement or an enforcement action between a governmental agency and a facility. The EPA (Environmental Protection Agency) and the OSHA (Occupational Safety and Health Administration) regularly include audit requirement in the settlement agreements with facilities that have violated regulations.
Audits may also be mandatory if they are required by a regulation. For example, under the Clean Air Act Amendments of 1990, EPA has the authority to require auditing by regulation. Some OSHA regulations, such as those governing lockout/tagout and process safety management, also have self-audit requirements.
An audit is a great way to get your hands around the situation and make the appropriate adjustments before they become a problem.
EHS Inspection:-
STEP 1: PREPARE
· Establish an inspection team of two or three people from the department or from other departments.
· Review the floor plans and decide the specific area to be inspected.
· Review the previous inspection reports for outstanding items. Inspection reports done by other inspectors, such as the workers members of the JHSC, should also be reviewed.
· Review any incident/injury reports and the preventative action taken.
· Review the inventory of equipment and hazardous materials.
· Review any safety-related complaints.
· Prepare a customized checklist using the examples included. Checklists are not permanent lists or the only items to consider. Checklists should be reviewed and revised as necessary, for example, as new equipment is purchased, new procedures are instituted, or when injuries reveal previously unsuspected hazards.
· Estimate the amount of time needed.
· Plan the route and areas to be covered based on the above information.
· Notify relevant faculty and staff of the inspection.
STEP 2: INSPECT
· A successful inspection is a fact-finding exercise, not a fault-finding exercise.
· Use the checklist as a guide to provide the structure for the inspection. Add additional items as necessary.
· Look for what is right, as well as for what is wrong and comment on good practices, as well as bad practices.
· Talk to people, ask about concerns but avoid long discussions.
· Look outside the usual eye level – look up, look down, look into closed rooms, look into cupboards, look behind, look around.
· Point out immediate dangers for correction on the spot, note other items on the report.
· Record all questionable items.
STEP 3: REVIEW AND FOLLOW-UP
In order for the inspection to be a valid activity, information obtained through inspections must be reviewed and decisions taken as soon as possible as to the action required. In some cases immediate action can be taken, in other cases action will be recommended to the next level of supervision, and in other cases review may be required prior to any action being taken. It is important to correct the underlying cause of the problem.
Review of inspection reports over a period of time will assist the department to identify needs and establish priorities, improve safe work practices, identify areas that require more in-depth analysis and highlight the need for training.
A timely response to the person(s) doing the inspection is important to validate the activity. If no action is planned on recommendations, reasons should be given.
Always look for hazards that threaten the environment, health or safety of your workers, then find the most efficient way to prioritize and control them.
